The most largest weekend

Hi guys


I talk about my last weekend. In the Saturday morning I go to Shedd Aquarium again, with Ricky and finish my homework of Miss Erin. In the afternoon I was to shopping with my friend Ricky, then go see a movie in another recidential of Kendall named Buckingham; with other students, Jena and Melanie.

I see Dirty Dancing and Top Gun.

The Sunday I stay in home with my friends, play cards, listen to music, did not do much but we share between us and rest.

But in the night of Sunday Classes were canceled for Monday by low temperatures. I stay in the house, but it's so boring, but with friends and cards all it's better. And don't forget my new best friend, Skype!

Shedd Acuarium

Hi Guys

Today I talk about of my visit to Shedd Aquarium!! It's an amazing museum, very many species, I found monkeys, frogs, snakes, spiders and very many fishes. Shiny, big, small, one colors, multicolored; all varieties of fishes that may appreciate.

But, Miss Erin left us a homework, named 10 animals with one common characteristic. And the second homework, consisted select 2 favorites animals and answer the following questions:

• Common name/Scientific Name.

Cow Ray / Rhinoptera bonasus.

• Describe its habitat/aquarium.

Tropical waters, the Caribbean Reef Aquarium, because they feed clams and crustaceans.

• What things does your animal need to survive (climate, nutrients, food, etc.)?

The fins or wings, with then dig shellfish of bottom.

• What physical characteristics help yous animal survive?

They are a great size and colors. They have teeth to break clams and oysters. If she is threatened used the spine of its tail to defend.

• What the behaviors you observe?

submissive behavior.

• Is your animal an endangered species?

no, but It's vulnerable.

Temperate or tropical waters, the aquarium was a very similar to a Caribbean Reef, because they were hooked on plants.

The roll tail, small crustaceans and warm water.

 They are very small and have very good camouflage and It's tail help then stay on plants and corals.

What the behaviors you observe?

Submissive behavior.

No.

 A. Chicago’s Parks

1. Chicago parks system:

In the world, the city of Chicago has a great park system, which over 550 parks totaling more that 7.00 acres. Each park has its own story, unique characteristics and history.

2. Chicago’s first park

The first park of Chicago is Dearborn Park, was established in 1839. Been a part of the Fort Dearborn military post named in honor of General Henrry Dearborn, this park has 1.08 acre parcel. Between 1839 and mid-1860’s, many other parks were created with less then 5 acres in size, but other new parks being the exception at 17 acres.

1.    What it was originally?

In first, the Lincoln Park was a Cemetery Park in 1863. In 1870 the park was a beginning to take shape in a little part in the north of Cemetery Park, with walkways and a many large trees and shrubs were also planted throughout the park.

2.    Suicide Bridge

This bridge was the most high bridge in the Lincoln Park. It was a popular park attraction for many years. This Bridge began to build at 1893 and was completed in 1894. Now 

Homework

Hi guys

Today I talk about the food here in Chicago. The tipical food is Mc Donald's, Dunkin Donuts, Subway and Starbucks. But I'm eating in Kendall College and I have eaten very much variety the strange food, but its so delicius. I have eaten cow, duck, chicken, turkey, variety of salads, soup, bread, eggs, fruits and dresserts.

Always there is something different, wedding cake, roaf beef, fruit salad, pizza, omelette, and all think culinary students cook that day.
The last friday, we go to ChinaTown, and lunch chinesse food, its so exotic and very seasoned, but quite tasty. I prefer the Kendall food.

Now, I talk about the weather in Chicago. It's so cold! Sometimes it snows or rains, but always run a strong and very cold wind. The temperature ocillate between -13 and 1°C abroad, but inside the buildins is always warm.

The lifestyle in normal Chicago. It is the same a other lifestyle in other city of other country, very similar. But I feature a little diferences:
• as there is less dayligth, the most shops closed at 19 pm.
• the life in the city starts early.
• the people use the train, busses and taxis, but at least as their own cars.

Comments of my fists week. In all moments I had very cold, so I used very many jackets. But now I've used and use less jackets. At first I wanted to go all the tourist places and attraccions, but it's so expensive. And I wait for I go with my class of Kendall.

What I miss of my country and lifestyle?? My bed!!!! But my brothers and all my family too. Other thinks that I miss it's a hug and kisses of Cla-claudito, play with my brothers, cook in my kitchen, stroking my cat, talk with my mon about the life and moving the world. I miss the sun of summer, but I love the snow!  I love when it's snowing, it's so beatifull.

Free afternoon

Hi guys

Today I talk about my past thuesday. I had regular classes in the morning, but it was very cloudy, we couldn't do the activity of the day, so free afternoon! As the guys and I went to Boystown. In this street there are very much exotic stores, but after all was a very fun afternoon.

Harold Washington Library

Hi guys

So, yesterday I visited the Harold Washington Library. This Library its so important because it won a desing/buiding competition for Chicago's new Central Library in June 1988.This 756.640 square foot neo-classical building appeared in Guinness Book of Records as largest public library building in the world. In 2007, the Harold Washington Library Center ranked 85th in an American Institute of Architects national poll of the public's favorite pieces of American architecture.

This Library, has a 9 floors. The top floor has an event room. In this room very many weddings are celebrated and other specials celebrations. 

 


After visiting the library, we went to the bookshop, where I wanted to bring everything home, or at least all of the fairy tales.

Art Institute

Hi Guys

Today I will talk about my favorite piece of art in the Art Institute of Chicago, and I say that is impossible because I love art, the Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Egypt, medieval and contemporary. But, I can make a little sample of the best for me or my favorites.

Art in Open

Hi guys

I will explain that I think about of Picasso's sculpture... It is an angel!!! 

I think it is a beautiful sculpture of extraordinary dimensions.

In my first day of class, I visited the Cultural Center. It is a fantastic museum, from its architecture to the very many mosaics. This building has 2 domes, giants domes. These domes are very colorful and with very many figures.

Hi guys

My name is Catalina Muza and I'm from of the city of Santiago, in Chile. I'm living now in Chicago for a month, but my home is in Santiago with my mom, my two little brothers and Miss Emeli, my cat. My parents have been divorced for 1 year. My brothers are so especial, Rodrigo is 18 years old and studies  Mathematical Sciences in Chile University and my littlest brother, Cristobal, is very special, is a gifted child.

 

I am study in Chile in a AIEP Institute, and the name of my career is technician in clinical laboratory and blood banks. I love this career because i help the sick people in a laboratories, and veterinary patients.

My hobbies are listen very much music, share with friends, love my brothers and cook for them. I also like read a fairy tales, go to the cinema and go out with someone.

I come to Chicago for learn to best possible the English language and to see new places. While i stay in Chicago I want know new people, new places and make a new friends in the world.
